Which color of laser works best

I am thinking of getting a Laser pointer 3 watt to eliminate some unwanted palys that are spreading like wildfire.
Was wondering if anyone knows if one color of Laser works better than another and what is the minimum wattage that is effective . Looks like the choices are blue violet, green and red.
Also has anyone tried using lasers to control the spread of green star polyps.

I don't use one but all research and advice I've been given on the subject is that the red laser light converts to heat better than blue and green so it is preferred. And that the darker the target, the more it heats up. So transparent or really light colored targets may not heat up enough to be killed

There are a few threads on the use of lasers in the aquarium and the consensus seems to be that they are not very effective at all. You might have some limited success, but it hardly seems worth the money you'll spend on something with enough power to do the job.

The other issue you will have in using them on palythoa sp. is the release of VERY potent toxins into the water.

I would find another way. And wear eye protection and gloves if/when handling the rocks.

Toxins aren't an issue.

However, as the guy who did the first post here about using lasers in the tank, allow me to say they are NOT very effective. They can kill some aiptasia or majano anemones, but only if you can get the laser to access 100% of the animal. Any tiny bit of foot left in a crack or hole in the rock will just grow back in a few days. And given what they cost, they just aren't worth the effort IMHO. Like the majano wand, they just don't do the job well enough.

I really feel like the same can be said for any control method the reefer used. Kalk paste, aiptasia x, lemon juice, vinegar, boiling water... all result in the aiptasia returning and multiplying.

That is interesting about the toxins
I had a poster on another site tell me the the palys toxins would crash my tank
Also I have a friend in Vegas that tells me he keeps his GSP in check with a laser pen

Paly toxins will not crash your tank unless you are smashing a lot of them.

If by 'laser pen' you mean a laser pointer, your friend is telling you a story. The light from a laser pen can blind you, but it can't kill anything inside an aquarium. Even a serious 3 watt laser struggles with GSP and it is strong enough to light a piece of wood on fire!
