which type of sand is better for a reef?

I personally like carribean live sand. Its a little more bang for the buck, but my refugium is thriving thanks to five inches of the good stuff.

My old tank had about two inches of crused coral, and that tank developed tons of pods and worms; it just took a while longer.

Ive also heard of southdown sand being seeded with live rock, but I had trouble finding southdown sand here in the midwest,
 
Yeah I used the carib live sand before and it was pretty good. How about the really fine sand? I was thinking about using it since it looks a lot nicer.
