Which would you choose?

About to order a protein skimmer for my to be created 75g reef tank. I will have enough room next to the sump for an external skimmer. Regardless of price which skimmer would you choose? TIA

1. Deltec AP600
2. ETSS Reff Devil Deluxe
3. ASM G2/G3
4. MRC MR1/MR2

The Reef Devil is in another class all its own...a much lower class. I think you'll find most people will say the Deltec.

AP600. BTW, the ASM can not be used external (they leak).

Out of that list I would go with the Deltec, but I prefer my skimmer to be in the sump just in case it decides to leak or overflow.

I run my AP600 in sump fed off the overflow. It's in the stand in my living room. If I had a basement fish room, I would feel better about running a skimmer external.

The sump and skimmer will be located in the stand. From your responses i should use a in-sump skimmer to best avoid the chance of a leak in my living room. The deltec ap600 seems like the best choice so far. Any other products in a similar category of quality and performance? euro-reef, etc.? Thanks again.

The Deltec wont leak, but you do have to connect/disconnect lines when servicing it which would be a pain if external. If the collection cup ever overflowed, you would not be happy. Mighty stinky stuff. In sump is safer.

I run a precision marine bullet 1 on my 75 I am very happy with it.
