This is one I did for a client not long ago, super simple design anyone can do really.
I used quarter round stock for corners and then I tied it all in w/ chair rail and baseboard to give it that built in look.
Door openings could easily be cut in, but this guy had access from backwall and we did a garage fish room, so we went smooth doorless to keep it really clean.

Just that little detail of quarter round stock make that tank POP!!!! well done

Nice pics! I had my brother over to help me finish my stand this weekend. I told him I was going to paint it black and he gasped and said it should be white to match the trim in my house. I knew black made the coral colors pop more but maybe that won't matter as much if you look at a white stand in a totally dark room. I might try white when the weather warms up a bit more and see how it looks.

White pretty much always looks clean, hides any flaws, while black highlights any flaws, and you need to keep it very clean or it shows dust.

This is my black glossy beauty.
I was thinking about white too, but it ended in black, just to match my furniture and I'm not sorry now. The contrast will be higher :)

Very nice. I don't think I've ever seen this type of design before.

How was it lit? Do you happen to have any pics of it complete (fish, water etc.).

Thanks, the owner wanted to make it look like the cabinet was built w/ the house and not separate, being in the formal dining room it just made sense to add chair rail and tie it in.
One problem I run into is people w/ 8' tanks wanting a seamless cabinet face, and the quarter round is perfect for taking an 8' sheet and just joining and bumping that additional 1.5" needed to make it land right.
The owner did an awesome job mounting LED modules and running all wires through the wall to continue making it all super clean.
I'll search for his thread to show off his work.

My eyes go to whatever is lightest first. So, when I see a white stand, it's "nice stand......oh, there's a tank on it, too." You don't want that. When I see a black stand, my eye is attracted to the lighting in the tank first: "Nice tank..........good job on the stand, too."

Maybe I'm just weird like that.

Black to white... High gloss car paint :-)
