white spot on mantle

I was at the lfs today and I almost bought a crocea but then I noticed a small white spot on the mantle. It looked like it got bumped and pinched the mantle against the shell. it was not on the edge of the mantle but a little further from the edge maybe 1/4 of an inch from the edge. Is this small white spot something to be worried about? other than the white spot the clam seemed healthy, it responds to shadows and it was not gaping. I am not sure what else to look for.

there could be many reasons for the white spot but with the clam looking and acting fine, i see no reason to not select it as a good one to have.

it could even be a natural coloration in the clam
