Whitest 400watt MH ?

I noticed I am getting green algae on my new rock after 2 weeks. My metal Halides are about 1 year old. Is it time to replace them? I have been using Hamilton 10k 400watt. I have a 30" deep tank. I like a white light. Any suggestions on bulbs whiter than hamilton?

I also have 2 URI Super Actinic.

Depending on your ballast, the Hamilton Bulb specs at 8-9k.

The XM, again depending on ballast, goes 11-13k, so should be a little "whiter".

I have the XM 400w on a PFO HQI, comes out to 13k and is very white.

If you've not been to Sanjays lighting page, go there and plug in some bulbs...

Hamilton Magnetic Ballasts. If found XM to be a slightly larger bulb. Longer. Won't fit in my hood the way it is set up
