...about skimmers

Ok, I have a couple of questions, by the look of my photos in my gallery, is my skimmer turned on too wet? I was told if the tank is already cycled, etc... then run it wet. Does this look correct?

Also, the bubble production diffuser... I know it's hard to see but it's on the left, does it need to be sitting lower in the water or higher???

I'll be the first to say I dont know everything, but it looks like your skimmer is full of clear water. If thats the case i dont think you have it set right. The stuff in the skimmer should look like a nasty dark tea or coffee. What kind of skimmer do you have and how is it set up?

It is a Coralife Super Skimmer. It is a new tank and skimmer. Just started up the skimmer tonight.

I dont have the same skimmer, but according to the directions you have to go through the breakin period before you will get it dialed in correctly. Also if the water level inside the skimmer is too high I dont think you will get it to work properly. Have you tried to search RC? I've seen some threads about your skimmer in the past, maybe by checking some of the other threads you'll find a better answer.

Wait a week or two before worrying about the skimmer. Lower the water level for now until it gets some good slime coating inside.

Word ... Alaskan Reefer is right ... You've simply got to wait 'till the skimmer breaks in before being able to fine tune it. However it's way too wet!
