any ideas? our church is planning a 700 gal reef tank. It will wrap around the corner in a broad curve. I am concerned about scratches with acrylic as it will be in a public place. Thanks for any help..

Acrylic will scratch easily and cant be avoided, you will have them one way or another. But for a tank that large Acrylic is a smart choice.
Thse guys will make a custom tank for you,
I have used them before and they are very professional, and honest. Thy do alot of custom work, they have pics and info so you can see there setups and cutom tanks.I would highly reccomend them. I think they would be your best bet.

I'm also looking to have a custom Acrylic tank done, these guys state that they ONLY work within the Chicago area at large. Anyone know of any other reliable places that could fab up a custom tank...

they shipped one out here to New England. Think they mean your SOL if you want help putting it in.

Call up some LFS and see what they can do.

wow I can't believe you would recomend them. They are the worst company I have ever delt with and have almost gone out of business many times. The owner Dave is a know it all who was TELLING me the problems with my 300 gallon tank and never saw it or would come see it. He is an absolute fool. All of his good service employees left. A few of the better ones started their own companies. DO NOT USE AQUARIUM PROFESSIONALS. After they "fixed" my plumbing I had to spend $1700 to have it redone correct.

Also they don't make tanks. They order them for someone

I had good experiences with them, never had a single problem.
They will ship a tank to you, but they will only service or do setups/teardowns if in the chicago land area.

Why a church would have an aquarium

I think that there is nothing that shows the wonder of life better then a reef tank with all of its colors and wonder. It is living beauty. We have a childcare and the kids will come down and take turns feeding the fishies. If you think this is something, you ought to see the 28' water wall that will be on the front glass.

Don't worry, we have private donations paying for the extras. It is going to be way kewl..

Thanks for your posts. Why is it that this can't be made from glass? I do understand the energy efficiencies, etc.

I'm sure the glass/acrylic debate is a continuing thread. Seems people are strong for one or the other. Anyone know of a good forum link?

I do appreciate the links...
