Who makes the best nano?

Hi, I'm interested in getting back in hobby but much smaller than my last 400 gallon system.

I would like to know who makes top of the line nano tanks with a built in filtration system. I prefer something 30 gallons or less.

Lighting will be my next question. I've never owned a nano so this is all new to me.

I would like to keep sps if I decide to go that route. Who makes the best of both worlds (tank and lighting) or do I have to purchase them separate?

Thanks, Dent

Well alot people are buying the nuvos. As far as lights go however much you want to spend.
if you want to keep sps a four bulb t5ho would be minimal. better with a 6 bulb ati makes the best in my apinoin. theres also biocubes theres 28 and 29. Radions mp10s seem to be the trend i perferre halide which a 29 biocube with tank mount 250 watt with a few small blue led strips would be badass.

Biocube HQI would be pretty slick. Cadlights are super nice and I do love the Nuvos. Those are three I'd start with.

If you are going to pick the best which one? Light wise, give me an idea? I'm so used to big stuff like MH's and big pumps etc. I just want to be simple, small and efficient. Thanks again, Dent.

The biocube HQI has a MH fixture. It's by far the most capable light out of the stock options. I do prefer LED's but non of the AIO nano set ups seem to come with any strong enough options except maybe the JBJ advanced fixtures but for the price of those you could get a standard biocube and a freaking used radion ha.

PicO makes awesome nano AIO tanks. But there are a lot of other great choices. He only makes tanks part of the year. I don't think he will open back up until early March.

The best nano light is nanobox IMO.

Top of the line nano setup is pico tank and nanobox light.

Elos. I've had a Mini and a Midi. They're not really AIO as they have a sump but that's a good thing IMO.

The glass is easily 2x as thick as anything else (non-custom) and the entire package is a work of art.

Thanks guys, I'm looking to buy something new so I don't mind spending the money for the right nano. I really want to have one that does it all and without any headaches.

Sure you've got the right hobby ?

Seriously, Elos has been the premium brand and there are many, many Chinese systems of widely varying quality.

Innovative Marine is making some very nice products and they are truly innovative. They've got little skimmers and reactors that fit their systems, for example. The build quality is good.

JBJ is a decent brand now that they've started using glass that doesn't crack.

Find a bid city and hit some shops. Recommendations are worth exactly what you pay for them.

Red Sea all in one tanks are nice IMO....the price tag goes with it, but for modifications or changing things out, last i saw, the red sea was a great adaptable all in one.

someone will probably correct or dispute my statement there, but i havent REALLY LOOKED to buy a nano in years....

The JBJs do seem great at first as an overall package, but months in, you start to regret wishing you had more of a "Pro" reef build, with "sleeker" "well thought out" design, other than a plastic cube with less than stellar filter design... Fitment issues will cause concern as well...

Think more than just overall package, look into design, footprint, and appearance, rimless, edges, filtration setup, etc....

Consider these in your decision! Sleep on it!

ive had my eye on the cadlights 8g mini-II personally. their 34g mini-II professional system looks slick for the price. nuvos are nice too, just stay under the 16g as ive seen 2-3 threads pop up in the last week or two on the larger ones bursting at the rounded corners in the glass

I just picked up a 24g dx recently. Ordered a set of BML customs spectrums that will screw right into the stock hood, and blow anything under 400 out of the water and they are built here in th states.
Ild go with whatever tank you like and stick your own quality lights on it.
