Who runs 250w Radiums?

I run 'em - on a PFO HQI ballast.
After a year of 20K XMs on the same ballast, I prefer the Radiums.
Color is outstanding...especially with the couple hours of 10K mixed in.

I too run 250 watt radiums on pfo hqi ballasts. Along with actininc vhos and PCs actinincs. I love the color.

kmagyar, great looking 'packed to the gills' tank! Do you also find the growth rate to be just "tolerable"? Sure doesn't look it from your pic.

I will admit, My growth is slower, but in my case coloration is a bigger concern. You think that looks packed. Its even more packed now. That pic was from a month or two ago. I snip weekly to keep everything from touching.

I couldn't agree with you anymore. IMO that is the best lighting setup for color. Not the best for growth but I'd rather look at pretty corals that were smaller verses large corals that are ugly (or not so colorful).

I also use 250w SE Radiums on PFO HQI ballasts. It's a new tank/setup so I don't know how the lifespan or growth will be but I think they look really good, a cross between crisp white and ice/sky blue.

Phoenix 14k, the spectral plots are almost identical

So I thought. But other posts earlier in this thread alluded to some big differences. Was trying to figure out just how different.
