Will a chalice sting a similar chalice?

Trying to figure out how far apart I need to place chalices from each other. Will similar species sting each other (i.e. will an echinata sting another echinata)? Will a lamelossa sting a similar species and/or an echinata? Also, is there a rule of thumb on how far apart to keep these?

same species should be ok, I believe. I have seen pictures of two chalices growing into and melding with one another.
