Will an Elegance coral be fine in a nutrient deficient tank?

Interesting, I have had my elegance for like three years now and the thing just keeps growing. My clown also hosts this elegance, he must think it is an anemone lol.

I have the envy. :)

scunan,
First off that is awesome looking. Second is it Australian or from Indonesia?

great job with yours!

The one I was looking at was metallic green with bright purple tips, is there anyway to tell if it would be from Australia? I heard that they were starting to allow the export of corals in limited numbers.

Which means many many dollar signs :)

Yep, you'll most likely know an Australian Elegance by the price...

I must say, I was rather impressed by the response from Liveaquaria. Not at all what I expected when I clicked on the link. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Elegance coral in this hobby and I also found it rather interesting that they mentioned Blastos. It seems they've become quite a problem for a lot of people as well.

This actually gives me hope that maybe in a couple years elegance corals will be something even I can keep.

I have never had a problem keeping brains or any corals, just don't over crowd them and keep your water in good condition. Ot seems that T5's and Metals work best. ( this is the short answer ) :)

I've had my elegance coral in my SPS dominated reef for over two years now. I'm not sure where it originated from. I feed him a few pieces of krill every week or two and he's doing great.
