Will my T. derasa become a meal for my Choc Chip?

I really like the aquacultured 4" T. derasa I added yesterday, but the presence of the choc chip star (the aquarium's first inhabitant) makes me nervous. I keep him well fed, and he's never bothered the star polyps, zoas, or even snails.

Guess it's safer move the starfish to the QT tomorrow, where some new LR is currently in the later stages of curing (NH4 = 5 ppm)

What are your thoughts?

Sorry i don't know for sure if the chocolate chip will eat your clam, but I wouldn't do it.

What do you fed your chocolate chip? Mine doesn't seem to eat any left over food from my mantis shrimp's prey.

TIA

Reef Pinoy: The choc chip gets a slice of thawed cocktail shrimp, 2-3 times a week. But oops - this is the clam forum!

crimson156: I know how to seach the net and this forum, thanks. What I'm asking is whether anyone had any specific tragedies involving T. derasa's and choc chips (or other stars, for that matter). This is a fairly good sized clam, and I don't have any information on whether the 2 1/2" starfish could actually open it.

Any specific feedback is definitely appreciated.

YES he will eat clam and urchins and horse shoe crabs and anything else !! do not trust a 10 dollar star on a 100 dollar clam you WILL be disappointed of the outcome .... when he decides its lunch time it will take him 30 seconds to make his meal . put him in the sump and let him scavange thats what they do best .

Thanks for the input... "Chip" is gone and living alone in the QT for now. Interestingly, the T. derasa harly even flinched it's mantle on the one occasion when the starfish crawled over it.

Glad to hear its no longer in the tank, I also had to banish mine after it ate my torch and green star polyps.

The star will def eat the clam. There is no question in my mind that a CC star will eat anything. It devoured my urchin like it didnt have any spines.
