Will this grow softies?

Hey RC!

I had to downsize my 40 to a 10 gallon, so that re-opens the LED lighting door for me :thumbsup: Would this kit from RapidLED work to grow softies on a standard 10 gallon? It's about 20" long, so six CREE LED's seems like enough light to me, but then again I'm not an LED expert. Thanks for the help! :wave:

It has the ability to choose lenses, the option safe 40, 60, and 80 degrees. If this light will work, which is the best angle?

Which lens you would use depends on how high you mount your fixture. Low mount wide optics, higher mount narrower optics.

What kind of corals were you able to grow under that lighting?

I only had mushrooms at the time, but it could keep zoa's, mushroom's, xenia, and corals like that.

18w over 10g will be plenty for soft corals

Plenty of light, no optics (unless you mount it high above the tank).

Color could be an issue, since you are rather limited in your customization. That'll depend on how picky you are about lighting though. Softies don't seem to mind as much so it's entirely personal preference there.

for a 10G I think you can grow softie even with regular florescent!
