I admit even at our years of experience I'd thought maybe our little chromis might want a 'buddy'. Nope. He hangs with the mandarin. He'd kill another chromis if we put it in with him.
The human/primate notion of 'setting fish up' with buddies is not nearly as valid, IMHO, as the Genghis Khan model: I think the real secret fishy ambition is World Domination. If they're the one of a kind in a tank, they've won.
