i used it for a month or less... it worked great but i did not have the time or patience to tweak it... i wanted to put it inthe back of my sump but it was a pita to get back there as often as i wanted...

i liked the ozone and Ca effluent line that were built into the skimmer... it was easy to adjust. its very well built... great skimmer... i just though the deltec was easier to run as its pretty much plug and play....

I think BAR aquatic and MRC are great skimmer just using too much electricity. Unless i have the solar roof :). I used to run the MR3 in my 150g with MD70 RLT, i love it... till the electric bill arrived

reefer what pump did you use on the skimmer?

lolz... man gabe, i asked for a skimmer, not some new age lazer turret :D
i think i better go with something a little more easy to work with since i seem to not know the first thing about skimmers in the first place...

hey xoshagsox what is the hight and footprint of that skimmer?

ALL PM's replied... thx

Bebo, i use the Iwaki MD70 high pressure pump. I think the pump use 296w.... :(. I got plenty of fine bubble and lots of dark skimmate.

HAHAahAHha....
check out the "Tank of the Month"!
they have the same "Custom" skimmer stand as me :lmao:

should you always use a pump stronger then the pump recommended or does that just depend?

anyone know this question?

i also use a iwaki 70rlt on my reefconcept 830 beckett skimmer. incredible amount of fine bubbles, incredible amount of skimmate (2+ gallons per day) and yes, it is tricky to fine tune!

i would recommend one pump larger than what is recommendedby the manafactuer as i got a HUGE difference in performance when i went from an iwaki 55rlt to a 70rlt...of course...that's another 100 watts but the 55rlt barely pulled anything out while the 70rlt just kills with foam that i shut it down for about 9 hours per day because there is nothing left to skim after that for the day...
