Xenia growing onto claim

The pulsing Xenia is growing onto the shell of my Crocea clam. It's attaching to the shell now. The clam is still open and response to light change.
Is this a problem? Should I just leave them alone?
Would the Xenia grow too big and block the light for the clam?

Thanks

I'd pull the Xenia off the clam. Evenutally, it will start to bother the clam and block its light.

BTW: Where do you live in Ontario?

I'd have to move the clam to another rock, as I'm afraid the Xenia will grow on it again, even if I remove one branch of it.

I'm near New Market, Ontario.

I had some attach to my clam too.
I forgot xenia stick to anything they touch.
I just yank it off.
It does grow back, but I will just yank it off again.
You could use like a knife to scrape the shell clean.
I would do that, but I;m a bit lazy for that.

Agreed. You can just keeping pulling the Xenia off the clam shell as it grows. However, if the clam is very close to a colony of Xenia, you may want to just move it somewhere else, where the placement will not be interferred by a growing coral colony.

I used to live in Mississauga. I miss TO - great city.
