Yellow Watchman Goby

I had my YWG in QT for 3 weeks and seemed ok, with no noticeable issues. I have added him to my DT last night during lights out and he swam near the top for about this AM and now is sitting on the sand looking a little stunned.

Anyone else had a similar experience? Should I expect a couple of days for acclimation to the tank?

Mine did the same thing for a while, don't remember for how long but eventually it started acting normal.

YWG are generally pretty hardy. I have had a few over the years. I have never seen them swim near the surface, so the fish was certainly in distress.

Most likely cause is improper acclimating. The salinity between your QT and DT is different, with your DT being significantly higher.

when i added mine I remember being concerned that all he did was swim near the surface and hang out at the top corner of the tank and he ended up being fine.

Ive had him for about a year now and he hangs out in the rocks at the bottom of the tank and occasionally sifts sand like a goby should so I think if you give him some time he'll be fine

Mine has jumped the overflow twice now. First time I got him back in he settled in fine. Fish are weird sometimes, just give him time and make sure he's eating

Yes, fair warning that they are jumpers. I lost one to jumping though I didn't find out where he went until we moved. I kept my tank covered but he must have jumped during maintenance and I didn't notice. Need a tight fitting cover.
