Your thoughts on magnet rocks for long term use?

What's everyone thoughts on long term use of magnet rocks?

I want to put some SPS in the circled area.. pretty hard to fit in another full rockscape. It would be easier making a magnetic tonga structure. But it would be a permanent piece in the tank.

has anyone used magnet rocks as permanent rockscape? I don't know if i trust epoxy/cement coating..

I have frags everywhere.... they are going to be an issue in a few month. some only have 2 inch in between. I am going to have to Bonsai the heck out of this tank

I would not consider anything with a magnet submerged in salt water permanent. I have had to many different magnets corrode splitting what ever they were in cased in apart. Then corrosion really takes off leaching nasty stuff in to our tanks.

Tony I glue the frag straight to the tank with epoxy and let them grow. In the future if you don't want it u can break it off easy no harm done to the tank.

thanks guys! sounds like I'll just keep gluing them on the glass lol. to reach that back section I'm going to need some snorkles

Already started that process with Vu's frags

You could encase each magnet in silicone or epoxy to keep it from ever coming in contact with salt. Just make sure you use strong magnets to be able to still attach from the added width from the protected silicone/epoxy.

I've also used and still have magnetic rock structures and magnets attached to the back glass of my tank.
Some of the magnetic rock structures I bought and the others I made using an epoxy resin. I've had all of them in my current tank since 2012. I've removed some of them recently to make changes in my tank and all of them were still intact. I even use a pair of magnets that I made for holding algae sheets for my fish. They stay in my tank 24/7. I sealed them in epoxy resin as well.
