i picked up 2 frags of this from xia yesterday. it's lookin good in my tank right now :D in the past ... i've had really bad luck keeping them.

pink pom pom xenia :) im gonna put it on my main rock on the left side of my tank. hopefully it doesn't grow out of control.

Hehehe.. hey Sam, make sure it's on a rock that you can take out of your tank. Then you can frag off the excess xenia before it gets out of control.

Keep the alk and pH up, and don't let the temps spike on you. It should do fine.

I found the key is to keep that alk stable, but not too high.....mine start to ball up and look bad about 11+ dkh.....pulsing type that is.

Sam, if you need more, lmk. I've got tons and I need to prune them soon because they are trying to grow over my zoos!!!

On a good note, my blue eyed dragon zoos are now starting to double in numbers. I should have enough to share by summer.

will do liz :) it looks like it'll do fine. i'm gonna let the xenia get settled in and if it still doesn't do well in a week or two i'll let ya know.
i added a drop of lugols to my bakpack fuge about 2 hours ago so i don't think its the problem w/ iodine.. probably the alk.

I've had xenia do really well with and without iodine dosing.

Here's a pic of one of the tanks. 80g softie, with silvertip on the left and pompom on the right.

I found that they pulse faster with brighter light. When I had the xenia in my 72 under MH, they pulsed really fast. Plus the heads were more compact. Under the fluorescent, they stretch out more and pulse slower.

Liz, I hope you have Jessica on your list since she really likes those zoas, haha...

when I looked it was like it was never there...that explains the extra algae growth I got last week. now i need more macro. seems like the only stuff that really lasted was the caulerpa prolifera...
