Zebra barred dart fish

I bought one about three days ago and I still haven't seen it out. About how long will it take to come out of hiding? Right when I put it in it went behind the rock and I haven't been able to find it since.

It's probably trying to making a burrow in the sand, that's what mine did when I put him in. I didn't see him for a few days, but now he's out all the time. Just give it time to get comfortable is my advice.

+1...if you have room, 2 or 3 of these are great together...will 'school', and will, all shot into their cave at the same time!

I agree, this species does a lot better in small groups and will be a lot more social and visible.

I'd give it a couple weeks before really worrying. My firefish hid forever wen I introduced it.

Check your overflow and around the outside of the tank. If you havent seen the fish it might have jumped because these fish are on a suicide mission in everyones tank lol.

Alright thanks everyone that's what I thought they hid for awhile but I just wanted to make sure. Ive looked around the tank and I don't believe it jumped so I'm assuming it's still hiding. And when I upgrade in the future will it be possible to get another or will they fight?

No but I saw it a couple days ago under a rock and it was fine so I'm assuming it's still trying to get used to the tank.

Food will usually bring them out of hiding haha. I know where his burrow is so I can always check on him when he isn't.

As soon as I get my pseudochromis out of there I'm considering adding a couple of friends for him.

That pseudo could be part of the issue. Similar body shape in a smallish tank. What species is it?

Yeah I think I found his/hers burrow but I cant see under it because it's in the back of the tank. I just placed some food by it though so I'll see if it comes out.
