Zeovit

So, I've bit the bullet. I had been thinking of giving Zeovit a whril for a couple months now and finally decided to go for it. My stuff should be here tomorrow. I'm going to start taking pictures of all corals and see what kind of changes happen. I'll keep everyone up todate on it.

Great! I was debating on that but wanted to see some progress from someone local. Hope it turns out well!

*sigh* do you really want to know what I bought?

I plan on making the zeovit reactor out of PVC, shouldn't cost more than $30 in parts. But additives... that's a different story. The cost in the system is quite high, so I'm hoping the returns are worth it. I lost a lot of color in my corals when I did a flatworm exit treatment a little while ago. I had way to many flatworms and the toxins did a number. I'm really helping going the Zeovit route will help bring those colors back a little quicker.

ZEOvit 1liter
ZEObak 50 ml
ZEOfood 7 100ml
ZEOstart2 250ml
Pohl's Coral Vitalizer 100ml
Amino Acids High Concentrate 100ml
Pohl's K-Balance Potassium mix Small 250ml

hey Rob give us a tank shot now, for a reference pic.

then do a pictorial week by week or month by month.

szwab, that's the idea. I'm going to do weekly shots of the tank and some special individual corals. Should have the first tank shot up later tonight.. Just got home and i"m off to do some tank cleaning :)

cool!

I'll be sitting at my keyboard waiting for th pic and listening to some Jazz here at work tonight

But if your coral lost color due to a treatment how will you be able to say it is indeed the zeo that made everything take a turn for the better?

That's what I was going to try to put in a sarcastic way George. Having a tank with a bunch of browned out corals and having them color up will not prove anything to the ZEO skeptics. A better subject would be my tank that has color. Let's see if ZEO makes my color more intense. I would be interested in adding only...

- Pohl's Coral Vitalizer
- Amino Acids High Concentrate

Would this affect my color?

I never experienced any coral change with flat worm exit before, but I only dosed one time and it worked just as advertised. What is Zeo?

I thought the same thing. Good points by both of you.

But I would think that Taco would be able to tell if they look better than they do now And/Or than they did before the FE treatment. Hopefully he gives us the honest answer. :p :) I still wouldnt mind trying the CV and AA so I'm anxious to here how this goes for you. And to see updated pics. :)

Same here. But I only dosed one time and the standard amount also. I was infested with flatworms a couple of years ago but pretty much cleaned them out of my tank doing daily water changes, blowing them off and sucking them out. After they were almost gone I dosed FE 1 time, the end.

Rob,
I was not trying to sound short in the above post about color, just asking the question. I certainly hope all goes well for you with the zeovit.

FWE does not directly harm anything, it's the toxins from the flatworms that cause the problem. I was infested. Millions, billions, zillions. I siphoned for a good 30 minutes but there were still a ton in the rock work. So, it wasn't the Flatworm Exit that caused the problems it was the toxins from the dead planaria, but that's a whole different subject.

My tank has been up for over a year now and I pretty much know what kind of colors it's capable of producing. Though the colors might not be the best due to the FW problem, I think I'll easily be able to tell if Zeovit actually did an improvment or not.

I was originaly going to first start off with CV and AAHC run that for a few months then switch over to full Zeovit but after thinking about it a little bit; by going Zeovit I will be turning off my ozone (which I like for health reasons) and removing phosban (expensive in itself) which I think are "bandaids".

I've found a lot of pretty scientific research over on that other site that explain why the Zeovit and specifically Prodibio (which is a basic Zeovit copy without the wide level support) systems work. If anyone wants to read it, PM me and I'll try and point you in the right direction.

As far as the tank picture... Not going to happen tonight. I stirred up too much sand while sucking up junk and my closed loops are just keeping it suspended. I'll try and turn the lights on tomorrow morning before I head to work.

I could delete the link but why bother ? The info from a hobbyist trying out new techniques is always worthwhile.

I'd rather see a post stating how much these additives cost.

The cost in the system is quite high

Hey Taco-

I can bring my light meter next week and get readings on changes in light level (thus water clarity) at various depths over time.
