Here is a list of items that I have come across at my local "œDollar Tree" store. Gotta love finding items for the aquarium hobby that are only $1 :thumbsup:

$1 Turkey Baster (use for feeding)
$1 Measuring Cups (use 1/2 cup measure for salt mix)
$1 Super Glue Gel ~ 2-pack count (Reef Safe Glue for frags)
$1 Long Arm Extension Grabber (for reaching into the tank to moving rock, frags, etc"¦ without getting a wet arm)
$1 UHMW Cutting Boards ~ think or thin (multi use item for fabricating)
$1 Silicone Hot Pads (use under pumps and other mechanical items to dampen vibration noise)
$1 Funnels (multi use item)
$1 Terracotta Plant Pots (breeding surface, caves)
$1 Plastic Dish Scrubber Pads (for Bio Filter Media)
$1 Cleaning Sponges (for cleaning)
$1 Scrub Brushes (for cleaning)
$1 Dish Tupperware Containers (containers have many uses: drip pan for canister filters, wash tub, etc"¦)

I would say that as long as it is a brand you recognize, then it should be ok. (ie: GE, Woods, Husky, Westech, Intermatic, etc......)

As for extension cords I would say brand and know the gauge of wire required for what total amps your pulling.
