1/2 inch hose ?

So would a 1/2" insert elbow fit in 1/2" hose or is the elbow a 1/2" and I need a smaller elbow?

Generally speaking, flexible hose size is based on the inside diameter, so "1/2" hose" is 1/2" I.D. (and typically 3/4" O.D.). A hose barb that's advertised as 1/2" is sized based on the fitting's outside diameter, so a 1/2" hose barb will fit a 1/2" flexible hose.
