Beaslbob is looking for a one inch pipe tap. Here's what he wrote:

Does anyone have 1" (x11.5) pipe tap? I need one for a few hours, the rental stores do not have them, and they cost $30+.

Just trying to be cheap again. LOL

most hardware stores will tap or thread a pipe for 10$. what type of pipe are you tring to tap? if its pvc becareful cause it will crack.

You don't tap a pipe. Male threads can be cut, but not tapped. Finding a pipe with the correct internal diameter and still have sufficient wall thickness after drilling it to the correct diameter would be nearly impossible.

Sorry, Tomoko, I'd loan one, but the largest pipe tap I have is 3/4". A high quality tap will run about twice that. Plus shipping. Buying a high quality one locally would probably be about $80.

I'm curious now though, any clue if this is a reef related DIY project or what?

Bob, you've really got me nervous now! Inquiring minds want to know.

What on earth are you building that you want a 1" tap? Email one of us so we can tell everybody else.

Tomoko.

thanks for posting about the 1' pipe tap.

Sorry to scare ya Harry. LOL

What I was trying to do was just clean up the female threads on a 2" to 1" slip to threaded bushing. To DIY a bulkhead on Verdell's tank and get the sump/refugium up and running.

Turns out I did not have to do a thing. Even though the threads only went in for 4-5 threads, It still sealed fine with no leaks.

thanks everyone for the help.

Now I just gotta get the stupid drain to stop gurgling. LOL.
