1 spot on fin after 4 weeks in hypo

I put my bellus angel in hyposalinity just to be on the safe side when I got her. She has had one tiny spot on her right fin, looks like piece of salt, and it's gotten a little smaller. No other changes. She has eaten well, been active. After four week the spot is still there. I was thinking of slowly raising the salinity and watching for a couple weeks to see if I get an ich outbreak. There's also a blue tang in there that's been in there for 2 months now at hypo. If the spot is ich, surely it will get worse or the blue tang will get it. I thought it would be better by now.

Thanks for any advice.

Very possibly lymphocystis and not ich at all. You should try improving the variety in the diet and soak the foods alternately in vitamins and Selcon. Adding Beta glucan to the food for a couple of weeks may do the trick. Lymphocystis is viral and the only real treatment is to remove all sources of stress, improve the diet, give the fish supplements and make sure the water quality is high with water changes. I like to place fish with lymphocystis in a cycled quarantine with hyposalinity and use Beta glucan. BG is a proven immune function enhancer. I use low salinity to conserve energy that would be used in osmoregulation. This frees energy to be used in healing. Hypo hasn't been proven to help lymphocystis, but it does seem to help IME.

Thanks Terry for your reply.

I think my fish must have lympho, although it doesn't look like the pictures. It's just so tiny. But it doesn't look like ich either, and I've had her in hypo for four weeks now.

When you say good water quality in qt, exactly what is that?
My ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, nitrates 10-20, ph 8.1-8.2, temp 80 constant, 1.009 on refractrometer. The only thing could be the nitrates, which I do a water change when it goes over 20. When I change the water I'm careful to match all parameters.

I've ordered some beta glucans from a health food store. I'm slowly raising the salinity a little bit. Now it's 1.012. Do you think I should slowly raise the salinity or keep it low as I feed her the beta glucans? Is it ok for the other fish in qt to eat it although they have no symptoms?

I think I'll take some too for some health issues I have! :D
