got a 10 gasl reef goin now for about 2 years, mini bio wheel filter, sea clone 100, small power head, 20# branch rock, 15# sand and 95 watt coralife. i have sevaral pieces in there from shrooms to acros. what my problem is, is that every so often a piece will start to die off. most recently a hydnophora(green horn) and its starting from the bottom and going up, what can i do to this piece to keep it and to prevent any others from doing so? last one that did it was neptia. any suggestions???? water qualitys good, all elements are good, good variety of feeding????????????????????????????????? i dont know it just seems like one after another month after month

water qualitys good,

Often with a mixed reef there's a lot of chemical warfare going on. In a bigger tank that may not be a problem but in a ten gallon it can be fatal. First have your water rechecked, esp for alkalinity and pH. Low alkalinity can cause pH swings stressing corals.

Second, you may benefit from using carbon in the system to remove coral toxins.

hth,

BTW, there's a local club you may want to join, ACROS
