10 gallon frag tank

Here is my 10 gallon frag tank, I have to modify the first step. I made it too high and didnt realize it until it was built. I will cut the first step down and make it 1 square up from the second step. Now I am going to be buidling the hood to house my 150w MH pendant.

LOL, Its not a bear its a Pictionary Man. Its actually a Hang-On-Tank Coralife MH Aqualight. Im using the ballast that came with it.

Very cool hooked into your main system? Or are you going to use a seperate sump? Can't wait to see it full

Its going to be a complete seperate system. I am going to be keeping it as simple as possible. No skimmer or sump, or at least not yet. Just a 2-4gallon water change a week and I am going to be running a HOB filter/fuge mod with some cheato. KISS Method, Thats the way to go. I am also considering running some carbon in a small HOB filter to go with it. Im not not sure. I am wanting to keep everything in it from zoa's and shrooms to LPS to SPS's. So here goes. I will probally be making the hood/canopy for it this weekend.

How high should I make my hood for my tank? 12" which would make the 150w MH about 8-9" above the water is this high enough. I dont want to fry everything.

Yeah that's high enough that what my nano is it. It was lower that was to low.

What about Live Rock? Is it needed and where do I put it? Or can I just run the tank with only the coral in it? Plus should I add some sort of barrier on the bottom of the tank. Ive seen some BB tanks with some sort of board or something on the bottom. What is it and do I really need it? Im kinda lost in this. HELP!

I don't know what "barrier" you mean. Live rock yeah if this is a seperate system fom you main tank and sump. Put it under the Frag racks
