11 foot tank leveling - need advice

So I started doing a FW leak test tonight on my new 11 foot glasscages (glass) tank and filled it half way up and see that I have 1/2" difference from one end to the other. The tank is 11 foot long so not sure if I should try to shim or not. What would you guys do? 11 foot is a long span so I want to do it right. Tank volume is about 350 gallons.

I would shim the stand, and shim it the full length of the stand... Leave no gaps... ex. 1/2" to nothing shim 11' long, you could cut it out of 2x4, just make sure it is a straight one.... Plus make sure to secure the shim so that there is no way of it slipping out...

That's a good idea huladad. I'll try to find a table saw to rip it like you said. I'll have to get a long 2x4 tomorrow. 1 should do the job.

1 will for sure do the job, just make sure to pick out the straightest one out of the pile... That will make sure you have no gaps along the shim... Keep us posted, and Let's see some pics of this monster tank, I can always dream though other people's tanks....lol

Wow! 1/2" in 11 feet, it's almost too close to even bother with.

I've cut shims upwards of eight feet that = 0 to 1/2"....it was a feat to get it right and was extremly delicate. If you go this route, I agree with HD...fix it secure.

Can you post some pics of the stand? Tinman

Is the top of your stand level with the tank??? No gappage along the edge?? I assume you are using some pink board under the tank??? If you are level with the stand to the tank I would shim the legs on the bottom or put on some leveling legs. Does the stand sit on legs or is it boxed on the floor also?? Yep, A picture would help before we give wrong advice....

11ft that is a long tank.. Lets see some pictures.

how is the level front to back? that has to be good too.
nice stand and tank !! did you get the stand too? if so, i would put a peice of 3/4 plywood down and then put the shims on the plywood and set the stand on to the shims. assuming it's going on carpet....

Yes, I got the stand and canopy. It is going on wood floor. I've already made my shims. Gonna drink some coffee and then get her finished up.
