12 Gallon Eclipse retrofit

I have retrofit a 1x96 watt coralife pc light in this tank for a nano.

Will I need to cover the fixture to prevent damage by salt creep? Will it damage the light if I dont?

salt crep on the bulb itself could shorten the life of the bulb, it will definately reduce the output of light, and is just a general PITA to clean off

If you have any metal or endcaps or anything that may be damaged by water long term, cover it up. I had a big canopy on my old tank and didn't cover it. After about 1 month I was getting rust from some of the screws.

It would suck to get a little water from evaporation up into your fixture and it start a fire. Something little can make a huge difference.
