Here's a few snapshots of my 12 gallon aquapod, home to a happy pair of occelaris clowns. This tank is my first and has been running since New Years Day.

In my 30 gallon I have two pair of black occelaris clowns. (One of which I'll be selling soon...any offers?) Here's a somewhat blurry picture I caught of them. Also one of the baby bta I hope one of my pairs will eventually host.

Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated!

I love it!!! What type of lighting and filtration do you have? I LOVE IT< BEAUTIFUL!!! My son started a 14g nano, and we would love to look like you when we grow up:)

Thanks for all the kind words.

It seems I get a LOT of positive comments from everyone who see my tank about the black sand. I started with planted tanks and this particular nano was a planted tank once upon a time...

I ALWAYS used black sand, gravel and slate in my freshwater tanks so that's just what I had to use when I set this tank up. (I'm a college kid, so this is sort of a design on a dime job) But I am VERY pleased with the black sand. I really think is make the reef life POP out. Especially in a nano. In my thirty gallon I have about a half and half mix black and white sand, but I feel it looks a bit messy. I may put that sand into my refugium and go to all black sand in there too.

Wow, you do nice aquascaping. Great looking fish too, I would be interested but I'm in Chicago. I have a very mean maroon I want to get rid of and replace with a pair of black occelaris. : )

Do the clowns seen pretty comfortable in that size of tank? I may think about doing something similar with the 12 gallon sitting in storage.

So far the clowns have done wonderfully, but they aren't full size yet. Although it's technically a 12 gallon, the actual display portion of the tank is more like 8 gallons...which is, in my opinion, too small for a full sized pair. Most of this tank, including the clowns, will be upgraded to a 20 gallon high very soon.

Some say it's a fine size for a pair of clowns, and it might be, but I want these guys to really flourish, and hopefully breed...

That's a nice nano fw plant tank.

Thanks! The plants were move to a 10x10x10 cube I made...planted all Amano style. Home to a dwarf puffer. And then the dog knocked over a lamp...and that tank was no more. So now it's all reef. I said it would never happen. I used to pretend I was so in to planted tanks that I'd have no interest in reefkeeping.

Then all of my freshwater tanks slowly became marine...and the rest is history.
