120g tank project begins

I just saw that on GC's website they reccomend that you place the tank over a sheet of 3/4" foam. That seems a little excessive. Fragmented, did you do this with your tank? and if so where did you find 3/4 inch foam? I guess homey might sell it that thick, but it has to be extruded foam, not expanded, right.......????

I ahve a glass cages tank with starphire since May & no Problems. As far a glass having a wet side, never heard of such a thing and cant see how this could be true. Tin side of glass. I thought glass was made of glass, why would there be TIN in it?

Now why would you state that you can't see how this is true before you do a little bit of research?

Of course there has to be a side that's lying down when sheets of glass are manufactured out of a 5000 degree oven, do you think that glass is extruded like playdoh.

Do a search on glass + pitting. You can tell which is the "tin" side by using an UV light. Tin side will flourescent under the light.

Ok, I ordered the tank from GC. low iron front and sides, euro bracing front and 2 sides only. Grand total of 520. I plan on making my own horizontal overflow and drilling it myself, which should stiffen up the back enough to not need the eurobracing back there. (besides saving me 200 bucks) The only thing that bothered me was he kept asking what they quoted me on the add ons, as if they dont have set prices they change customer to customer. I was tempted to say i didn't get a quote and see if the price changed, but i'm happy with the price so i'm not going to complain. I also sent an email asking if the dimensions were exact exterior dimensions so i can build the stand, and the answer i got back was "exact is a relative term". But everyone says customer service isn't their strong point. I'm happy with my decision..... for now anyway. I'llpost pics of the stand, should be starting construction this weekend.
