There is a LONG thread by JB NY about putting his tank together on two levels. Great info, check it out. Search for his posts, and you will find the thread.
Most employees of any given LFS will tell you that they know what they are doing.
Miraculously 90% of them disappear when you run into problems with the setup. Trust no one, but your own knowledge of setting up YOUR tank and YOUR house (make sure your tank sits perpendicular to the beams).
Put things on hold, research here on RC, find an electrician who has years of experience, rewire you house if needed, and come up with a PLAN. Small mistakes during planning stage will cost you x100 in a year or sooner.
