Oh-kay. Getting back in the hobby after being in it for about a year. Had to move 10 years ago and only now finally have some personal space I.e a workshop/mancave to set up in. My mancave is 10'x 35' ish. Dedicated zones are hobby tanks zone, gaming/office zone w/ triple wide screen monitors, TV/theatre zone w/ 50" 4k flat screen.
My old tank is an oceanic 110tall show tank undrilled w/ 20 gal acrylic sump, Euroreef CS 6-2 skimmer, some heaters, diy reef 2x400watt metal hallide moguls w/ Batwing reflectors.
In the last week I bought a 6' long 125gallon aqeon tank, an oceanic 60 gal, and a (probably topfin) 55 gal tank. The 3 new tanks I got for $300. So less than a buck a gallon I think is decent. I bought the 6foot tank to appease the tang police, and my conscience I suppose..
My desire is to set up the 125, the 110 oceanic show, the 60gal oceanic, and the 18tall. Oh yeah I have an 18 tall too. I plan on using the 55gal topfin as a sump for the 110 gal show. And get a Rubbermaid stock tank in a 60 gallon range for the 125 gal tank and use the 60gallon oceanic as a large display refugium to supply a large pod population to one or both of the 2 main display tanks. I am also planning on snatching up a couple of 40gal breeders or similar when I can find them for quarantine and hospital tanks. I will add pics soon. My biggest logistical challenge, is how arrange it all. I want to be able to see both tanks while watching a movie or at my desk gaming. I have been struggling with layouts for a few weeks and will undoubtably continue to for a while longer.
I am hoping to build all three displays into a wall with a dedicated hobby room behind but may be an impossibility. One of the big tanks may indeed end up as a peninsula wall (probably the 4' long 110tall. ) I know the width of the space is 10' .05" I need to measure the length again and lay it out on graph paper.
I am planning on a mixed reef for both large tanks, with more corals in the shallower 125.
I toyed with the idea of selling the 60gal oceanic but more is better....right? Lol
Oh and please do give me ideas and encouragement as I begin the long journey to the poorhouse...
