are there any seahorses/ pipefish I can keep in a 12g nano dlx I realy want dwarf seahorses but they seem to be alot of trouble and since this is my first sole seahorse tank I think it would be easier to go with a different species of seahorses.

Dwarf seahorses ARE a fair amount of work.... and unfortunately a 12gal tank is too small for any of the larger species of seahorses.

Sorry :(

I started keeping dwarf seahorses when I was around 10 years old. My parents funded the hobby of course.. but I was pretty successful with a 10 gallon tank and a sponge filter. I tried to run HOB filers but the fry always ended up getting sucked up. The sponge filter was perfect because it didn't make much of a current.

I actually had generations upon generations in a 10 gallon tank. I thought I needed to upgrade so I got a 30 gallon and it was just way too big. They couldn't find the food.

The hardest part is constantly having to hatch baby brine shrimp.

I say do some research and give it a try when you're ready.

I have changed my plan I am going to attach this tank as a refugium to an old 20gh tank my dad had sitting in the basement are there any pipefish or seahorses I can put in this also the 12g will be a show refugium so it will sit beside my tank and it will be a seagrass tank with 2 pistol shrimps and in the 20 I think if I don't get pipefish or seahorses I will have a school of masked gobys I found at sealifeinc.net the only reason I am upgrading (maybe) is because I got this tank when I was 8 as a christmas present probaly the best one I ever got:D
