does anyone local (wateford lakes area) have any 12k reeflux bulbs I can try out...I need to get new soon and don't want to order anything that won't look good with my ballast...

I have workhorse ballast 250W SE.

I have one but i'm not local to you. I can tell you that as far as the color goes they look great, as far as the corals go, my tank went downhill quick after installing one. I changed from a hamilton 12k, and saw an immediate decline in everything. I have gone to T-5's now, but if i ever did go back to MH i wouldn't buy another Reeflux bulb. Just my oppinion though i guess.

My orals had been under a Hamilton 12k bulb for 4 years before the reeflux, but they sure started stretching for light on the first day as if there just wasn't anything there when i installed the reeflux bulb. I like the Hamilton bulbs much better.

If you can drive up this way swirly, you are more than welcome to this bulb for free. The drive would be cheaper then a new bulb, but i would highly recommend a hamilton bulb if it were me.

hrm is there a color difference between the 2...I really like the blue look...

I appreciate the offer...isn't mt dora fl a bit far from orlando?

They look about the same to me. It depends on what part of orlando you are in i guess. It's about 12 miles north of Apopka on 441. Not really that far if you are on the noth side or Orlando, but i'm not familiar with the Orlando area that much.

If you like the blue look, i would go with a 20k Hamilton. They are beautiful for the ble look.

The other i was thinking of was the XM 20k...I dunna just looking for nice blue look...I like how it makes the corals colors pop...

XM's are ok, but i have had them, the Hamilton's, and Reeflux, and i personally preffer Hamilton bulbs over anything i have had when it comes to color, lasting, and growth. My experience with XM bulbs has been that every bulb is a different color. They are good bulbs though. I personally would never buy another Reeflux bulb. You can probably find the Hamilton's cheaper than XM too. If you do a search on RC there is a thread that shows the color difference on just about all of the MH bulbs.

No idea. I used to have the link many computers ago. I will look today and see if i can find it.

I really like the look of the 12k reeflux from pictures...You sure you didn't have a bad bulb?

I got some bad 15k bulbs that were smokin white and even hurt my eyes to look in my tank...they toasted about $150 in coral...sigh

Does anyone local have a 12k Reeflux, Hamiltons or other bluer bulbs I can try...

I am located in Waterford lakes area...

Thanks guys!

The bulb i have seems to be fine, the corals just didn't seem to like it. I changed from a Hamilton to the reeflux, and everything started reaching up like there was no light there. My anemones that had been in the same place at the bottom for several months all moved to the surface.

It's still here and free if you decide you want it. Just PM me for a phone # and we can arrange for a time. I'm always at home, so that should be easily accomplished. $5 worth of gas and maybe an hour round trip for you or $60 for a new bulb, not rocket science lol. This bulb has maybe 2 months on it. Haven't had it plugged in for a while now. I would sell the ballast mogul base, and reflector to you with the bulb for $50
