12L On Wall

I have/had a 215 in wall and seemed to lose interest over the last year. So I started selling everything off. I then decided I didn't want to be completely out. So I started searching for a nano and found a 12L for sale. Another local reefer mounted a nano on the wall awhile back and I always thought it was cool. So I picked up some iron plate and went to work. I just got the tank mounted tonight and fresh water running through it.

Heres the empty 215 with the new nano. The 215 is going away and getting turned into a bar.

I have an Eshopp 75 sump, Aqua C skimmer,mp10 and I'm still deciding on lights. I want to do three pendants like this with some Boost leds but I'm not sure that will be enough. What do you think? I'm also going to miss running just the blue leds. I would probably be better served with a single hood design but I really want the pendants.

I'm not sure what I want to do for corals or fish yet. More details to come.

Its just drywall. I have been wondering the same thing though. Its primed, painted and the paint/glaze on top of that. I never thought of wax. I'll have to look into that.

lol, drywall only? dude that things going to pull down the drywall.. unless you have like 4 inch thick screws going INTO the wooden planks supporting the house.

if it's only in dry wall it'll topple with the amount of sand/rocks that'll be in there - guaranteed.

Oh man you're making me cry getting rid of that beautiful 215! Thank goodness it's for a good cause. I'd need the bar to drink away the sorrow!

Looks like the door will hit the tank when opened? I would always be uneasy with that if so, doors get slammed/thrown open way to much at my house.

I was referring to the venetian plaster comment. Its secured via iron brackets.

yeah it was a tough decision

My furnace is behind that door. I only open it for filter changes and it opens up quite far actualy. I also have another door for the furnace room.

Mounted my Mp10 to the back of the tank tonight. I won't have any wires visible for very clean look. Still trying to figure out what lights to run. I'm also deciding if I go bare bottom or not. Going over to Calvin415's tomorrow to check out his turf scrubber. I'm going to copy that for sure.

I was over to Calvin415's yesterday to check out his set up. I'm having him weld up an algae turf scrubber for me. I hear good things about them and I'm excited to try one out.

Ive also been thinking about a pair of AI Nano's for lighting and make some pendants myself or just stick with the original pendants and Boostleds. What would cover better two Nanos or three Boostled par 30's?

How are you liking the overall flow, with the Vortech in the middle like that? Water isn't threatening the top rim is it?

Love that rockwork!

The flow looks awesome. I'll be able to tell more once I get corals in there. I have it dialed back and its about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the top.

That's fantastic then if it works out there. Keeps the whole exterior clean and free of wires. Nice to have the little Harry Potter fish room under the stairs. :)

Here's an equipment room shot. I need to get it organized more but its a start. Still want to add an algae turf scrubber.

I'm coming from a 300 gal system and 10% water changes per week were fairly common. What % is common on nano's? I have a 20 gal system now.

A few more questions. Whats the size of your top off water container? How about your mixed salt water holding tank? When I bought this set up the guy had two 22 gallon totes for this. There all set up with floats and bulkheads already but it seems like over kill to have almost 40 gallons of water for a 20 gallon system. I'll evap more water than I use each week.

One last question. I rigged up a couple dosing pumps today as a water change idea(see pic). The blue line pumps fresh salt water to the tank via the yellow line to the front of the sump. The white line pumps old salt water from the back of the sump to the orange line thats connected to the sewer. I could run this setup for about a half hour a day and at the end of the week have done a 10% water change. Whats your thought on this?

Well I posted up on NR about doing daily water changes and most people think its better to do one a week. Any thoughts? I also ordered my pendants yesterday. The manufacturer was closed for the last couple of weeks. My BoostLeds shipped out yesterday also.

Looks like I'll get my Boostled's today. I ordered the pendants on Tuesday when the manufacturer opened back up after the holidays. I picked up a clown last night but he's making me nervous already. This tank is to shallow for his crazy swimming.
