looks like an elephant ear mushroom.... i've heard they can/will eat small fish be cupping up around it...
i had one and got rid of it, i just didn't want to risk it with my smaller fish and shrimp....
Amplexidiscus fenestrafer, Giant Cup Mushroom. Ive had mine since July with no fish losses, could be risky to fish that like to host or perch on corals like clowns, gobys and hawkfish.
I feed mine small bits of silverside about once a week. Mine got to about 16inches across under moderate flow and moderate to high light, then I moved it which really ****ed it off and it has only been opening about 12inch max since then.
In the process of moving mine I tore the foot in a couple places, and the tissue left behind has developed into a 2-5 new mushrooms (not sure how many are left, 2 are over an inch across).
Mine at 16inch with a 12in ruler on it:
In feeding mode:
The frags, white patches to the left of the yumas, at about 1 month after I moved the large cup.
