14G Biocube Stock List

Posted this in the nano section but haven't gotten any feedback, so here goes. :)

Looking for some stocking suggestions for a 14g Biocube that I will be picking up soon...once its done cycling of course I'm excited to be able to focus on some smaller fish and inverts that would be lost in my 75g.

One thing I am fairly sure on is a pistol/goby pair, will probably be the first thing in the tank. Thinking of either a yasha or high fin goby and candy cane pistol.

I figure I have a max of 2-3 fish in the tank so what are any suggestions for one or two more?

Clown goby? Would one have any issue with the pistol/goby pair?

Any other fish suggestions? I'm kind of open to suggestions but the goby/pistol pair is a definite.

Also thinking of some inverts like a blood shrimp and a pom pom crab. Would these two be ok in a 14g?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I had a maxed out biocube 14 gallon however I kept up with 25% weekly water changes and things did great till I got bad case of ick in the tank.

For fish you could do the following;
a pair of clowns, I would suggested designers (back ice, etc.)
A flasher wrasse (McCosker wrasse)
Cardinal fish (Pajama Cardinal, Red spot (could do a trio))
Gobies (I had a ton of the nano gobies, green head, flame prawn, etc.)

There are a lot of other fish that would work but these are a few of my favorites. Your yasha goby is a good choice however have you thought of a pair?

Pom-Pom crabs are awesome in a nano reef. I would avoid a blood shrimp they are a little territorial in a smaller tank. At least the one I had was. Could also do a trio of sexy shrimp.

Good luck it's the first tank i learned on.

Im running one now. 3 clowns, royal gama, and coral beauty angel. its just in holding mode for 6 weeks till my 60 shows up, but its been like this for about 8 months and its just fine.

I have a pair of oscellaris in my 75g, think I'll stay away from clowns in the cube. Fan of gobies so a yellow clown goby is a possibility or maybe a panda goby, saw one last night at a LFS and thought he was pretty cool looking.

Wouldn't a McCosker's get too big for a 14g? How about a possum wrasse (tanaka or white banded)?

Daughter has begged me for sexy shrimp so that is a good idea I think, never got them because I would never see them in my 75g. Sexy dancers do ok with a pom pom ya think?

I had a possum wrasse (tanaka) and McCosker in my 14 gallon. So no I don't think that's a bad combo.

Also had a panda but didn't see him much, liked to hide, so I would stay with larger gobies.

Another fish you might think of is geometric pixie hawk.

I've had Pom poms and sexy shrimp together. So you should be good.

The tanaka would work fine or any other possum wrasse for that matter. Very interesting fish the way it kind of moves like a puffer. I did have a problem however with the wrasse and small inverts. I saw it a number of time going after a stray sexy shrimp an am almost certain that's why their number eventually hit 0.

There are a lot of other fish that would work but these are a few of my favorites. Your yasha goby is a good choice however have you thought of a pair?

When you say a pair, do you mean a mated pair of yasha's or two different gobies? Seems I have seen pictures of two gobies sharing a pistol and see notes on LA that some gobies like the hi fin will share a den. That would be pretty cool I think to have two types of gobies with one pistol, but is that likely?

I also maxed out my bio cube with 2 clowns,1 lemonpeel angel,1six line wrasse, long nose hawkfish and Pygmy angel but I do lots of water changes

slap face x10000000000000000000000000000
Stick to single clownfish, smaller/hardier gobies/blennies, possum wrasse, and firefish. Or a highfin cardinalfish.

Good lord have mercy....what in the hell are you people putting in these small tanks? Why dont you just add a naso tang.

lol trust me I have no intentions of 'maxing out' my biocube. Just trying to get some ideas of what fish would be happy. This is what I am thinking now:

Fish:
1 white banded possum wrasse
1 hi fin red banded or yasha goby w/ candy cane pistol
1 yellow clown goby

Inverts:
1 Pom Pom crab
1 Skunk Cleaner
3 sexy dancers (would these be ok with the wrasse?)

Corals:
softies and LPS only (zoas, frogspawn, torch etc)
