14k 150w HQI?

Hey any one have 14k 150 watt HQI's I have 10k's now but I want to check out what a 14k would look like.

I have the Current 150x2 with 4 54w T-5 actinics, I just want to see if I like a little more blue in the tank...

have you tried any super blue actinics i forget what there called actinic plus maybe

What brand/spectrum T5's are you running?

I would swap the T5's before spending some $$$ on new hallide bulbs. T5's are only like $20 a bulb.

Right now I am running the Current Orbit Series 36" 1x150w HQI, 2 96w actinics. I have the original 10k bulb, I bought the current 14k bulb and I am currently running a 20k bulb on my tank. The problem is that with a 10k bulb the corals in your tank will explode! I had Xenia in my tank and it went rediculous and spread so rapidly I could hardly control it as 10,000K is closest to actual sunlight which is about 6,500k. As you go more and more in to the blue spectrum the photosynthesis slows down more and more.

T-5s are 2x 420nm and 2x460nm.

I have the same fixture but with 2x250's and the 4 t5's. I currently have 14k hamiltons in there and really like them.

You're welcome to come over and see the color temp.

are you running the same T-5's that came with it?? I just picked up the light about a month ago and I just plugged it in the way it was... I just want a tad more blue in there.... I'm going to look in to some different T-5s and see what I can come up with....

Any one have any extra 48" T-5 super actinics laying around that I can try out??

I'm running it with the T5's it came with. The 10k bulbs it came with suck. They are yellow. Switching to 14k's made all the difference. But I suppose it all comes down to taste at the end.

see, I thought the MH's were really yellow. I'll have to come check out your set up at some point...
