I need to replace my 150 watt bulb in my sunpod fixture. Its 14000k. What is the best brand out there double ended 14000k or 20000k. Ive heard Phoenix maybe?? Thanks for any help.

i've seen the 14k phoenix.....They are great and have a great balance between white and blue spectrum..I am waiting on my mh fixture to arrive for my 90 with those bulbs....I'll post pics upon completion of installation.

i use a pheonix 14k 150 watt and have for a year now (not the same bulb but still...) and i love it... i dont see crazy growth from my LPS but i attribute that more to my Alk problems that i had before than to my lights... my xenia couldnt grow faster - which just proves my LPS growth rate has less to do with the lights...

Searching around this morning and last night, how bout XM? Getting some feed back that the Ushios are also really good in a 10000k spectrum but what about the 14000k? I like a little blue tint. My LPS grow like crazy under this 150w stock Sunpod bulb.

there is also reeflux. do a search on them in 12k. people seem to especially love the color, as well as great growth from that bulb.

The 10ks are going to be really white bulbs, no real blue color added to the tank, which you might not be used to, since the 14k is a really blue bulb.

The reeflux 12ks are supposed to be really nice bulbs, make the colors stand out, and get good growth from corals, however some people complain that they look a little "dim" compared to their 10k reeflux brothers.

You'll probably want to stick with a 12-20k bulb, because I would imagine that those blue actinic LEDs don't put out quite enough blue to really say that they'll change the appearance of the bulb.

I would say give the 12k reeflux a shot....

I'll keep watch to see your review of the bulbs, or maybe one day I can come by and see it. I'm thinking of buying someone's 150w coralife clip on light, so I'll be interested to see the coloration of the bulb.

Good luck, keep us informed with what you finally decide.

I think im gonna stick with a 14000k. This sunpod fixture is nice for a nano setup. The LED's dont color anything blue when the main lamp is on. They make a nice color when Im going to the fridge at night for goodies when the main light is off. 14k is not a supper blue bulb 20k is. I gotta search but do you all think, or is it proven that 10k grows coral better than 14k or 20k? Anyway I like the blue white color of a 14k and gonna order something tonight.

Yes, because the PAR (Photosyntetically Active Radiation) used for coral growth is higher in MOST 10k bulbs, and it declines as the color of the bulb shifts blue GENERALLY SPEAKING. Some 14k bulbs have really low PAR, some have high. There are a bunch of links in the SPS forum and Lighting, Filtration, Etc. forum about it. I promise that it'll be more worth your while to get a bulb that you like the look of, as they'll all probably grow your coral in your tank.
