anyone having success with sps running 150 watt halides over there 75 gl or 21 inch high tank ? I would love to see some pics or a thread .

You can do it, but you will be better off with 250w IMO.

what he said.

in fact I think its fine for tall aquascaping with sps up top in a mixed reef but if your looking to drop any kind of sps any where in the aquarium you dont want 150w.
that said gatorWPB's 65g is proof enough its possible (and I'm working on proving its possible too albeit a 16" tall 30g but no tall aquascaping)

it is possible to keep green and brown sps, and you could keep caps and most other monti's and digi's but to keep purples, blues, and reds in acros, millis in a 75 you need 250's imo, ime

Its been said already, but I would go with the 250s as well. The price isn't that much higher and in the end you will be happier with the freedom to drop SPS on your sand if you like. 150s IMO should be saved for smaller, shallower tanks. They have their place, just not only anything taller than 14".

Agree with everything said.....is possible, but is just one more thing against you with fewer options.

I ran 150W MH's up until about 1.5 years ago. You'll much prefer the 250W's. Better growth, and no worrying about whether or not the light is enough for that really cool frag you saw in the store.

I run a single 250W with PC supplements. I'm thinking of adding an additional 250W though....giving it a few months w/ 14K bulb to see how I like the growth.

It is very doable. The people telling you it can't be done are jus flat wrong. I ran 150s for two years on my 75 with very acceptable growth - even in my red acros and blue acros.

You do need to be conscientious of placement, but other than that, there isn't much elseto worry about. You will get slower growth, however.

I know because I switched to 250s because I'm upgrading tanks, and have noticed more growth in most coral.

HTH,
