So after months of planing and remodeling the room (wife orders) I finally have my tank started. It's currently in day 8 of cycle. I thought I would post a pic or two. Thanks to everyone here and my local club for so much information and help. Feel free to criticize my rock work as it is early and I can still rearrange if I agree with your views. I know ultimately it's my choice but I like to have other opinions especially if it's helpful to over all Heath of the future reef tank.

I would separate your rocks a little bit in order to create some more tunnels for extra circulation. Make sure your rocks are approx 3 in away from the glass so you can clean it and also for circulation. Fish also like over hangs. Being able to see a bit of the back glass creates great perspective/extra depth, illusion of a bigger tank.

I am a little bit behind you in setting up my 150 (72"x22"x22"). I plan to start with 3 separate rock scapes and and then later on, try (and I do mean TRY) to join them with bridges.

Thanks for the ideas polar. I actually had 2 separate islands with a caves when it was just live rock and an empty middle. Then wanted to bridge them together with live rock but never got the right size peices for it. So I'll bring them off the wall a bit for depth as you suggested.

Not truly related to reefing but I do like to incorporate it into everything aquascaping. http://www.thegreenmachineonline.co...osition-the-golden-ratio-creating-perspectiv/

I would layout to get yourself some sand frontage, because as it sits now I don't think you will have much. Maybe get some PVC and glue up a slope; definitely spread them out. Not sure what kind of corals/inhabs you are planning on keeping. Maybe do a slight half circle technique for the sand frontage with the deepest point 1/3 in from one of the sides and the downward slope/shelf/cave focus on the other side while still maintaining sand frontage (at least an 1") on the sides of the tank.
