Hi all. Im building a stand for my 180 and Im hoping to get some info from the community.
My tank has this area behind the overflow boxes for cables and stuff that I want to use. My return PVC will go thru this as well before splitting up at top to the bulkheads.
And this is my stand so far. Please ignore the 2 2x4 pillars in the middle up front. Those are just there to make sure wood doesnt sag due to the heat or I dunno really
.
My plan is to cut off the middle part of the rear 2x4 span... in between the middle pillars. Then add one in the middle and maybe another right before the bulkheads to hold the sides together? So yeah, is this a bad idea that will compromise the whole stand? I will be adding two more pillars at the back then nail plywood on the whole back leaving just big enough holes for my apex wall plugs.
As for the front, I want my 40 gallon breeder Im using as a sump (no refugium) in the middle which is 36 in long. Is 36 inches too long to go without a pillar? I think I can move the pillars closer to the middle since I have some wiggle room to squeeze in the sump I think.
Also, any tips on what plywood to use? Thickness? kind of wood? Is using one big piece better then cutting it up to a foot wide strips better? A whole piece of plywood wont fit in my Honda Fit
. What kind of nail... im thinking of getting that Ryobi brad nailer to use on here.
Thanks for help. Im really excited to get this tank going.
