180 new return pump idea

ok after quick searching through this forum, it appears most tanks run an internal pump of no consistant brand. Is there not a heat issue?

we are running a dart for return, and it is not working for us. I am trying to feed the skimmer from the drain system (tied together with 3 outlets). (2) 1" drains. i can not get the drain system to balance and there is an air inlet somewhere creating millions of tiny bubbles! to back up water in the skimmer, the rest of the outlets are shutoff too much not letting the main tank drain amd almost overflowing.

my thoughts are to get a smaller return pump, slow stuff down in the sump. Use one drain feed my skimmer only, and the other feed the refugium. My tank is already on the warm side, so i am worried about adding more heat.

Then, to remove some powerheads, take the dart and setup a non-drilled closed loop system. then i can run the dart wide open and should get lots of flow. I think if i use line-loc, i will be able to change the direction of flow if needed.

so i am looking for advice, most of you will have to think smaller, but maybe you have been through the same situation or helped someone else through it.

thanks
Ben
