1st experience w/skimmer

I just started a new tank on Saturday. I have been reading about skimming & most sites say it will take around 3 days for the skimmer to start producing waste. On Sunday I added around 20lbs of live rock (partially cured) but still no waste? Is this normal?

It could take a week or two for the skimmer to break in and start producing skimmate. What brand skimmer is it?
