Looking for some advice on which Streams I should get. I currently have a 65g, but I'm more than certain that a 120+ is in my future. Do you think that should i get the 6100's now and run them on a lower setting or would that just be a waste of electricity?

2 x 6100's will be too much for a 65 IMO. So, just get 2 x 6000's now and when you upgrade to your 120 and if its not enough you can always just buy the 6100 transformer. The 6000 and 6100 are the same exact pump except for the transformer.

I would disagree, get the 6100's , why pay for extra transformers, they ain't cheap.....when you can dial the 6100's all the way down for now and then dial them up when you get the 120 gal.

You can buy the 6000 and the transformers later on for the same price as just buying a 6100 new. For some reason Tunze priced it this way. You would lose no money going this way.

so if this is correct then it's actually better for everyone to buy a 6000 and purchase a transformer for a 6100 at the same time, turn around and sell the 6000 transformer which means you would have a 6100 cheaper than what you would actually pay for a 6100.

or just have and extra transformer in case of emergency.

d4a2n0k, good sleuthing. thanks a lot for the tip! the choice is clear now. a rare moment in this hobby. ;)

Hey great post - thanks - I am just setting up a coral only 65 gallon tank, and I stupidly bought a few powerheads and a wavemaker timer thinking that would be OK, but now I get it. So it looks like I will be shelling out some money for two 6000 and the controller. You kind of need the controller right? Just the pump doesn't do much so you have to buy the kit, right?

Me again, would it better or at least be OK, to just get the TUNZE wave box as opposed to the Tunze TurbelleÃ"šÃ‚® Stream Kit (with two 6000s? What would be the difference?

i'm a newbie to the tunze system, but from reading previous posts the wavebox is not very effective nor recommended for a 65. i believe the tank should be a minimum of 4' in length.

Actually, its better than I remembered. You actually save about $6.00 going that way.

The 6100 is $332.94. The 6000 is $259.96.

The 6100 transformer is here for $66.96.

$332.94
- $259.96 = $72.98

$72.98
-$66.96 = $6.02 savings and you get both transformers this way.
