ok. so guys, i have a couple a questions.

1. algae problems occurring. seems to be hair algae? green and brown. not bad, but don't want it getting worse. i am doing water changes. but i don't have much of a CUC. what should i get? i want more. i have 1 turbo snail (getting rid of) 3 margarita snails, and 3 hermits....i wanna get a cleaner shrimp and a sand shifting starfish. what else should i get to stir up the sand and the algae on the rocks?

2.How much of a CUC is needed for a 29g aquarium? dad wants to know :P

If it were my tank I would get 10 blue leged hermits, 5 red scarlet reef hermits, keep the turbo snail and get 4 more, 5 total margarita snalis, 5 nassarius snails, 1 cleaning shrimp, and I would stay away from the sand shifting star.

The size depends on the bio load in the tank.

thanks for the advice dave,
what would u get for a 24g aquapod. thats what number 1 was listing... sorry. lol
why not a sand shifting star?

my current inhabitants for the 24g are:
2 clowns, big feather duster, xenia, shrooms, zoas, 3 margaritas, 3 hermits (Red Scarlet) and 1 turbo that im transfering to the 29 gallon.

I've had bad luck with sand sifting stars and reading on here, it seems like they don't last to long. 4 gallons doesen't change things to much on the clean up crew. You should check your phosphate level, because this could be causing your algea problem.

check with these folks - very helpful and know their stuff. Click on the custom cuc link, answer the questions and they'll get back to you. The likely recommendation [it's worked great in my 29] is a mix of ceriths, nassarius, limpets and chiton

On the sand sifting star: They are terrific at cleaning the sand but once they get done going through all the detritus, they will go for the good stuff next, then they will starve because they ate everything.
