I will soon be upgrading to bigger tank and will move the fish over from my small tank to the big. I have one purple firefish now that will be moving and would like to get a mated pair of red firefish. Should I have any concerns about these 3 fish in the same tank? The new tank will be 100 gallon.

Thanks,

J

I had a single purple for probably 3 years. I combined my 55 with a friends fully stocked 55 which had a pair or Reds. The three lived happily in a 120 for 8 months or so until the tank came down.

I have three orange firefish in a JBJ 28. I added them when they were VERY small and all at the same time. It's been over a year now, no fighting as juvenile, but a pecking order. Now two have paired up and the other is a male I believe. The male of the pair rules the tank, there is no nipping going on, but all the dominate male has to do is twitch and the other male goes running. There is no fighting, just fish body language, but now the odd male out will stay in the back of the tank, and sometimes hide. And to get a pair of firefish is difficult, but if you did, I would add them all at the same time, and the large tank works in your favor.:fish2:
