Hey all, just got my electric bill, and it's getting stupid. We used 10 kw less electricity this year, and the bill's up $80. $380 is just too much for a 2 bedroom house! So, I'm going to have to part with 2 of my smaller tanks.
Firstly, a newish nano cube, 12g with matching stand. It was the DX model, and I upgraded the lighting. I installed 2 x 18w 50/50 bulbs, to add to the 2 x 24w 50/50 bulbs that came with it. The moonlights are still there. 84w of light over a 12 gallon is a good reef tank. The tank comes with the original working filtration, minus the bio balls of course... It has around 15 lbs of rock, with lots of zoos, some of them highly sought after (such as safecracker reds, and purple center reds.) There is a small stalk of xenia, a large bright green star polyp colony, and some grape (I think) caulerpa, as well as some red gracilaria tastefully placed. There are 3 different colors of bright riccordea, around 7 or 8 polyps. Some mushrooms, a kenya tree coral, and a red open brain (small). Of course, the 2" of sand comes with it. There's a furry little crab in there, rarely seen, that doesn't hurt any corals at all. Only times I see him are when I drop in a few flakes. There's a lantern basslet and a yellow coris wrasse.
Secondly, my pride and joy, an 18 gallon tall viaaqua, with handmade stand and canopy, complete with 2x96w power compact quad 50/50's crammed in, an aquaclear filter, a high cfm fan that keeps the water very cool, and black sand. Lots of light, but the corals just love it! This is the tank that won me Exhibitor's choice award at the FMAS show. There's a large pagoda cup coral, very fleshy and open, 2 years old now! A Pavona, a huge show quality show sized bali giant xenia with a few babies, lots of silver tipped pulsing xenia, some crazy colored mushrooms, a very nice sized green open brain, a bright green polyp alveopora which is growing nicely, some gorgeous green shorthaired fuzzy shrooms, and a strange yellow fuzzy leather (not anything like a sarcophyton). Tenants include 2 harlequin serpent stars, a gold coral banded shrimp, lots of nassarius snails, a beautiful cocoworm that's growing, and a blue spot grouper. Of course there's zoos, but some fairly common ones.
The corals alone probably warrant the price, but I think the tanks are priced to sell.
It breaks my heart to sell, them, especially the 18, but it's time.
$300 for the nano, (the tank's only 3 months old)
$400 for the 18 gallon.
Please help me find them good homes (I'd be glad to help move them locally.)
PM me if interested.
Thanks!
Chris
